Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager

Reports to: Vice President of Accounting and IT (VP-AI).

Industry leading paint striping related equipment manufacturer and service provider is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Team. This individual will own the day-to-day accounting operations, consisting of both routine and non-routine duties with an emphasis on general ledger management, account analysis and reconciliation, ERP system oversight, month end close as well as special projects. VP-AI will mentor to advance career.

Location: Orange City, Iowa

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily Operations:

  • Oversee all accounting area, including accounts receivable, collections, purchasing, accounts payable, fixed assets, and inventory.
  • Perform accounting transactions as required by internal controls.
  • Analyze, reconcile, and report sales revenue, COGS, and inventory related activity.
  • Work with operations and management teams to ensure costs are accurately and timely captured within the ERP system.
  • Review payroll weekly time entry for proper management approval and completeness.

Monthly Financial Close:

  • Leading full cycle general ledger process to ensure complete and accurate financials, including journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis.
  • Compile, maintain, and analyze supporting documentation of general ledger account balances.
  • Review financial data and trends for accuracy and reasonableness, investigating out of tolerance discrepancies.
  • Preparation and analysis of financial, management, and KPI reports.
  • Gather and analyze data for the budgeting and forecasting processes and reports.
  • Assist with internal and external audit processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
  • Participate in the year-end financial audit process, including maintaining schedules and fulfilling audit requests.

Continuous Improvements:

  • Assist in streamlining, documenting and compliance of best practices, controls, and procedures.
  • Champions complex initiatives such as implementation process improvements,
  • Assist in identifying and implementing under-utilized functions and tools of the ERP system, updating documentation and training users.
  • Automation of processes
  • Assist in data mining, warehousing, and ease of real-time access by current and future dashboards, reports, and other analysis tools. Goal to provide management with real-time data that supports proactive decision-making.

Additional duties and special projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting principles.
  • Knowledge and understanding of an ERP environment and how transactions interact.
  • Tech savvy and advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications with a focus on Excel; must be comfortable working with and analyzing large sets of data to root cause and solve problems.
  • Capability to work on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables. Ability to provide solutions that are highly creative and to exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Influences others by instilling excitement and a sense of urgency; is proactive and demonstrates willingness to “roll up the sleeves” as necessary; assertive, but not abrasive. Be able to work within deadlines and be able to prioritize self to meet the Company’s expected delivery times.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years related experience.
  • BS/BA degree in accounting.
  • ERP system experience.
  • Sarbanes Oxley experience a plus
  • IT-related and software experience a plus.
  • Tech savvy and MS Excel super user; must be comfortable working with and analyzing large sets of data to root cause and solve problems

Base salary commensurate with knowledge base and experience.
