EZ-Liner With NATO Forces In Bosnia
A lot of things are needed to field a modern combat force. Properly striped runways, although not often considered, are one of them. That's why the U.S. Air Force contacted EZ-Liner Industries with an urgent order for a striping machine and a truckload of traffic paint and glass beads. Destination: Bosnia.

"We were in the final stages of fulfilling a contract to provide a multi-year multimillion dollar striper order to the Air Force," explained General Manager Don Vermeer. They asked if we could divert one of the last stripers intended for an air base in the United States."

The AF120-SET trailer-mounted striper, along with a load of paint and beads, was shipped by truck to Scott Air Force Base near St. Louis, MO. There the shipment was loaded onto an Air Force C-141 Starlifter bound for Bosnia.

"The whole deal, from initial phone call to delivery of the striper to St. Louis, took only five days," Vermeer said. "Anyone who has ever worked with the government might tell you it’s impossible, but we did it."

The AF120-SET was engineered by EZ-Liner prior to Operation Desert Storm to meet the Air Force's need for a high performance striper for its Rapid Runway Repair units. Based on the highly-successful AL120-EZ pickup striper, the AF12O-SET features two 60-gallon stainless steel paint tanks and a 500 pound capacity bead tank, with additional deck space sufficient for two drums of paint and an additional 500 pounds of glass. This hydraulic-driven, airless paint system is powered by an 18-horsepower diesel engine. The striper, mounted on a 12-foot pintle trailer, is configured with a six gun, paint and bead equipped carriage capable of spraying up to 36" lines, and features an electronic skipline controller.
