| Technology Boosts VTS Traffic Paint Production |

| Continuing to be a leader in the competitive traffic paint industry, Vogel Traffic Services, the parent company to EZ-Liner Industries, has established a reputation as an innovator in production and customer service. New production methods, shipping capabilities and contracting techniques have resulted in record traffic paint production and sales each of the past few years. To maximize the efficiency of the paint plant, VTS has moved towards handling raw materials fewer times and moving them in bulk. A state-of-the-art docking facility for resin, emulsion and solvent carriers allows factory workers to pipe product anywhere they might be needed. A new bulk pigment system was recently added, allowing pigments to be moved to the mixing vat via auger and weight belts with computer accuracy. For the past few years VTS has been an industry leader in the use of 250-gallon tote tanks for shipping traffic paint. Tote tanks make a lot of sense for large users such as state DOTs, who will empty totes quickly and have paint shipments arriving almost weekly, VTS General Manager Donald W. Vermeer states. Smaller customers who order once or twice a year are still better served by shipping in drums or fives. The need for tote tanks has arisen due to changes in the way VTS contracts with many state DOTs. We focus on relationship-based selling, where we become a partner with customers who are looking for a long-term relationship with a vendor, Vermeer says. For that reason we have been successful in winning multi-year, multi-million gallon contracts from state DOTs. As a result of this proactive approach to manufacturing, shipping, and customer service, Vogel Traffic Services has experienced considerable growth in traffic paint production and sales. From all appearances, this trend will continue for years to come. |
